Hunter College, City University of New York, New York There has been a dramatic increase in the number of persons with dementia in Korea, and the number is expected to continue to increase. Dementia is increasingly a condition for which there are effective treatments and services. Because most adults work full-time in addition to having other family responsibilities, the government of Korea and the community are more involved in helping persons with dementia, than in the past. Nurses are needed to help with dementia research, public policy, education, and healthcare in Korea and elsewhere.
